How do you reset oil life on a 2011 Honda Accord?

I have a Honda Accord Sport SE. I just got an oil change, but for whatever reason, the oil life still reads 35%. How can I reset the oil life on my 2011 Accord?

Getting an oil change every 3,000 to 5,000 miles is an important part of routine maintenance, so good job on getting that done. In all likelihood, the mechanic simply forgot to reset the oil life, but doing it yourself is easy.
To reset oil life on your 2011
Honda Accord
, follow these step-by-step instructions:
  • Turn the key to the accessories position. That’s just one turn after you have the key in the ignition (without actually starting the engine).
  • Locate the trip button on the right-hand side of the instrument cluster.
  • Press the trip button twice to get to oil life.
  • Press and hold the trip button until the oil life flashes.
  • Release the trip button.
  • Press and hold the trip button for an additional five seconds.
  • If done correctly, your oil life should reset to 100%.
