How do you reset a BMW brake light?

The light came on after I left the shop to get my brakes serviced. My guess is that the mechanic just forgot to reset it. How can I turn off my BMW’s brake warning light?

You’re probably right about the mechanic! Fortunately, you can reset a
BMW
brake light yourself quickly and easily. Here’s how:
  1. First, you’ll need to turn your car on without starting the engine.
  2. Press and hold the odometer reset button for about five seconds. You’ll see a yellow triangle with an exclamation point inside it appear on the display, followed by another symbol. This indicates that you’ve entered reset mode.
  3. Press the odometer reset button until you reach the symbol for front or rear brakes.
  4. When you reach the correct symbol, press and hold the odometer reset button until the word RESET appears below the symbol.
  5. When you see RESET below the symbol, release the button, then press and hold it again until the brake light warning turns off.
If your brake light comes on again after you reset it, it’s possible that there was a problem during the installation. In that case, take your car back to your mechanic so that they can check to make sure your brakes are functioning as they should.
