How do you replace the key fob battery for a Toyota?

Over the past few weeks, I’ve noticed the range on my key fob getting smaller and smaller. Does this mean it’s time for a new battery? If so, how can I replace the key fob battery for my Toyota?

Yes, typically when you experience a decrease in the range of your key fob, it is due to a dying battery. Luckily, to change your Toyota key fob battery, you just need to follow these easy steps:
  1. Check your owner’s manual to find out what type of battery you need to purchase.
  2. Purchase your new battery from a department store or local auto shop.
  3. Take the manual key out of the key fob by pressing the metal button at the top.
  4. Use a flathead screwdriver to pry the key fob open.
  5. Carefully remove the circuit board.
  6. Remove the old battery and put the new one in its place.
  7. Snap the key fob back together and return the key to its housing.
Now that your key fob battery is properly replaced, take a moment to check out the
