How do you repair a car dashboard crack?

What can I do to repair car dashboard cracks in my brother’s old car? He didn’t treat his car very well, and I’d like to restore the dash. Since I can’t find any replacements, I’d like to try fixing it.

While cracks in the dashboard won’t impact how your car drives, it can be annoying. Luckily, you can follow these steps to repair the cracks in your car’s dashboard:
  • Use an 80 grit or 180 grit sandpaper to smooth sharp corners and scratch the area so your filler will form a better bond with it.
  • Next, fill the cracks and holes with padded dash filler. Give it a few hours to cure.
  • Sand the area until the filler is flush with the rest of the dashboard. Use a 180 grit sandpaper first, then move to a 320 grit sandpaper.
  • Apply a texture coating spray like Flextex VT by following the product’s directions.
  • Once it dries, prime and *paint your dash**!
