How do you renew your Ohio driver’s license online?

My Ohio license is about to expire, but I hate going to the BMV. Can I just renew it online?

Unfortunately, you’ll have to head into the BMV to renew your
Ohio
driver’s license. While the state allowed you to renew online during the heat of the COVID-19 pandemic, these features have since been removed from the government website.
Renewing in person is relatively easy. Simply bring proof of the following to your local BMV office:
  • Full legal name
  • Date of birth
  • Social Security number (if assigned)
  • Ohio residency
  • Citizenship or legal presence
If your name or address has changed, you’ll have to bring proof to support the change to your record. Check out the BMV’s website for a full list of acceptable documents to bring to the BMV to meet the above requirements.
You can renew your license any time before it expires—unless you’re about to turn 21, in which case you’ll have to wait until 30 days before your birthday. If your license is expired for more than six months, you’ll have to apply for a temporary permit and then successfully complete all of the required testing before a new license can be issued.
