How do you renew a driver’s license in Virginia?

Where do I have to go to renew my driver’s license in Virginia? This is the first time I’ve had to renew my license and I’m not sure what to expect or how it works.

You actually don’t have to go anywhere to renew your driver’s license in
Virginia
! The state allows you to renew your license in the following ways:
  • Online
  • By mail
  • In-person by making an appointment or walking into a local DMV office.
Regardless of how you choose to renew, you’ll need to pay a license renewal fee, which is the same as the licensing fee. If you decide to upgrade to a Real ID license, which allows you to fly without any additional documents, you’ll need to pay an additional $10.
If your license is expired by even just one day, you’ll also need to present proof of legal presence. Visit the DMV’s
website
for more information about proof of legal presence in Virginia.
Just like you need to update your license, it’s also important to update your
car insurance
periodically to make sure you’re still protected at the best price. With the
