How do you renew a driver’s license in Louisiana?

Does Louisiana let you renew your driver’s license online or will I have to go in person? I get nervous in crowded public spaces and would love to avoid the DMV if possible.

Unfortunately, Louisiana does not allow you to renew your driver’s license online. You’ll need to visit a DMV office in person and bring the following with you:
  • Your current driver’s license
  • A second form of proof of identity and legal residence in the state
  • Your Social Security card
  • Proof of liability insurance for all vehicles registered in your name
  • A method of payment for the $32.50 to $38.50 renewal fee
Present these documents to the DMV attendant to have your license renewed. While going in crowded public spaces can be daunting, being prepared will help to make your trip a little less scary!
