How do you renew a car insurance policy?

I got my first car almost a year ago. As a birthday gift, my parents bought me my first year of insurance. I think my policy is almost up, so how would I renew it?

What a great birthday gift! Owning a car is expensive, so it’s nice that your parents helped you with car insurance for the first year.
To renew your policy, reach out to your car insurance company. Depending on how your parents paid the insurance company, you may need to change the bank or card information on file or set up autopay. If you don’t want to pay in full, switch to a monthly payment plan instead.
If you have access to your online account with your insurance, you could edit your information and renew your policy that way. However, some companies require you to speak with an agent if you want to renew.
Before officially renewing your insurance policy, look into other insurance providers. Insurance rates change often, so you can often find a better rate with another company. Since you’ve had insurance for a year, your rates are probably lower than they were a year ago.
