How do you remove Toyota Matrix tail lights?

I was leaving my family’s house last night when my uncle flagged me down to tell me that my tail light was out and that I should change it soon or I’ll get a ticket. I’ve never changed any of my car’s light bulbs—I’m not sure how hard it is or if I can do it on my own. How do you replace Toyota Matrix brake light bulbs?

Your uncle is right—if you want to avoid a ticket, you’ll need to change that tail light as soon as you can. Luckily, removing
Toyota Matrix
tail lights is quick and easy.
Here’s what to do:
  1. Open the rear hatch to expose your tail light housing. Depending on your car model, the hatch may have a tab for you to pull or you may have to pry it open.
  2. Remove the screws that hold the housing in place.
  3. Twist the tail light to remove the bulb, then gently detach the wire assembly attached to it.
  4. Attach the wire assembly to your new bulb and screw the bulb into the housing.
  5. Replace the screws and the hatch.
Now that your tail light has been changed, you can drive with a bit more peace of mind knowing that you won’t be stopped for a faulty tail light. However, before you get back on the road, be sure to check out the
