How do you remove the trunk liner in a Honda Accord?

My preschool-aged daughter somehow spilled a gallon of milk in my trunk and didn’t tell me about it. Now, the whole liner is sticky and smelly. What’s the best way to remove the trunk liner in my Honda Accord?

Kids and cars don’t always mix, but try not to worry! Removing and
cleaning the liner
is easy enough, once you unscrew the fixtures holding it in place. Here are some general instructions for removing the trunk liner in your Honda Accord:
  • First, clear your belongings out of the trunk.
  • Unscrew the light fixtures and weatherstrip in your trunk. From there, you should see the edges of the carpet.
  • Gently pry it up until you’re stopped by pins that look like screws.
  • Using a flathead screwdriver or other pry tool, gently pull them from the carpet. Keep them safe—you’ll need the pins to reinstall the carpet.
  • Continue pulling off the carpet and removing pins until the carpet is fully released.
  • Either wash the liner or purchase a new one before reinstalling it.
Remember, if you have a Honda Accord from after 2008, you should be able to remove the trunk floor instead of replacing the liner. All you need to do is take out the two clips securing the floor to the car and seats. You should find one by the weatherstrip and the other where the seat and trunk connect.
