How do you remove scratches from a car using household items?

What are the best ways to remove scratches in car paint with household items? I don’t want to buy a scratch repair kit, but I would love to get rid of some of the scratches in my car before I try to sell it.

Fixing up little scratches can be time-consuming, but it’s relatively easy! Plus, you can
remove scratches from your car
with a variety of household items, including:
  • Toothpaste: You can fix small scratches in your car by gently rubbing toothpaste into the scratch with an old toothbrush. You may need to do it a few times to really fix up the scratch.
  • Nail polish: If you have nail polish that matches your car’s paint, you can use it to paint over the scratch! Remember, this is only a touch-up—so only use it on small scratches in inconspicuous areas.
  • Shoe polish: If you can find a polish that’s a shade darker than your car’s paint, rub it gently into the scratch. When it dries off, the color will fade, and the scratch will be less noticeable!
