How do you remove rusted bolts without heat?
There are some rusty bolts on my wheel in desperate need of replacement that just won’t budge. I know you can use a heat torch to remove them, but I’ve never used one and am worried I’d burn myself. How do you remove rusted bolts without heat?

If you’ve never used a torch before, it’s better to be safe than sorry!
There are a bunch of ways to remove rusted bolts without heat. You can try the following:
- Use a lubricant to loosen the bolt and then remove it with a wrench
- Use a clamp to cut the fastener’s head and help remove it from its position
- Use an impact hammer or wrench to forcefully remove the bolt
If you want to preserve the bolt, soak its threads with penetrating oil and slowly “rock” the nut by loosening and tightening it. Once you have your bolt out, you can use a wire brush to remove residual rust.
