How do you remove car lot decals?

I just bought my car, but there are still some decals on it from the car lot. How can I remove them?

Uh oh, you don’t want those decals making your car look tacky! Luckily, removing them isn’t too difficult. To start, you’ll need these supplies:
  • Dental floss, fishing line, or something similar
  • Sponge
  • Soap
  • Bucket
  • Water
Once you have the supplies, here’s what you’ll need to do:
  • Take a piece of dental floss, thin fishing line, or something similar and wrap it around your hand.
  • Now, carefully pull the floss or line through the adhesive behind the decal.
  • Make sure to take your time and slowly loosen it. An easy technique to try is to twist several strands of floss together, giving you a more durable string.
  • Once you pull off the decal, this is where the soap comes into play. Fill a bucket with warm, soapy water.
  • Using the sponge, in a circular motion, and wipe where the decal was.
  • By the end, there should be no remnants of the decals, just a shiny spot on the car!
If that doesn’t work, you can also use a solvent like Goo Gone Automotive. Automotive Goo Gone removes things like decals or stickers that may leave a sticky residue on your car.
