How do you remove car emblems?
What’s the best way to remove a car emblem from my car? I want to paint it, but it seems like it’s attached with glue or some other adhesive. I’m a little worried about damaging the paint.

Painting your emblem is a great way to personalize your car! But you’ll need to loosen the adhesive before you remove the car emblem.
Here are some tricks that can help:
- Pour hot or boiling water on the emblem to loosen the adhesive.
- Use a hairdryer to warm up the area and soften the glue.
- You can also apply an adhesive remover like Goo Gone to the area above and around the emblem to loosen the sides a little.
- Use a plastic wedge to pry off the emblem. Be careful. This method could break the emblem if done poorly.
- Slide a piece of dental floss or fishing line behind the emblem and slowly work through the adhesive by gently pulling and moving the floss in a sawing motion.
- Use a credit card to pry the emblem off.
Once you’ve removed the emblem, use an adhesive remover or distilled white vinegar to remove any remaining adhesive. Make sure to wash and wax the area once you’re done!
