How do you remove a car from your insurance policy?

What’s the best way to take a car off my insurance policy? My 2008 Toyota Corolla is starting to give me problems so I've pretty much stopped using it. Now I want to get it off my policy so I can stop paying for it.

If you have multiple cars on your
insurance plan
, you can take your 2008
Toyota Corolla
off by calling your agent and asking them to remove it or accessing your provider’s website/app and removing it yourself.
However, if you only have a single insured vehicle, you will need to
cancel your insurance policy
altogether. To do so, you must provide your insurance company with written notice and the effective date of cancellation.
Whatever your method of cancellation, you should receive confirmation either online or by mail. If you don’t, then call your insurance company to make sure your request is being processed. Keep in mind that some insurance companies will also require a cancellation fee before making things official.
If you are canceling your existing plan but seeking new insurance, make sure your new policy overlaps with your old one. Lapses in coverage can cause your rates to raise. Plus, keeping your coverage will make sure you’re insured for test drives and rentals!
Don’t forget to contact your local DMV over the phone or online to learn about your state’s plate requirements. Some states will actually require you to surrender your
plate
if you drop your liability coverage, so it’s important to be informed.
If you want to
switch insurance providers
but feel intimidated by the process, try using
Jerry
. A licensed broker, the Jerry app takes care of all the paperwork and phone calls and even can assist you in canceling your old policy!
