How do you register a car in Alabama?

I just moved to Alabama and want to register my car here. How do I do it?

Moving is always exciting—best of luck in Alabama!
First off, the Alabama registration process will differ based on whether you bought the car from a dealership or private seller and whether you are a resident or just moved.
Before you can register any vehicle in the state, it needs an Alabama title and the state-mandated liability insurance.
Once you get a title and insurance, complete a vehicle information number inspection and pay the registration fees. If you’re new to the state, you have 30 days to register the car. If you’re a resident, you have 20 days to register a new car once you take ownership.
