How do you reduce stress before a driving test?

Do you have any tips for taking my driver’s test on Monday? I’m super anxious about it and I’m not sure what I can do to make myself calm down. I’m worried that I’ll make a mistake just because I’m nervous. How do you reduce stress before a driving test?

Answer: It’s totally normal that you’re feeling nervous about your test! Here are a few ways that you can reduce your stress before your driving test:
  1. Practice deep breathing. Try to breathe in for four seconds, hold the breath for seven, then breathe out for eight seconds. This helps to calm the nervous system.
  2. Think of it as practice. Your first driving test can be really intimidating, but try to think of it like a trial run. If you don’t pass, you can use the knowledge that you gain from the test to practice so you can pass your next one!
  3. Eat a healthy breakfast. Arrive at your driving test with a full stomach so you’re not distracted during your exam.
  4. Get a good night’s sleep.
    Sleep deprivation
can have a negative impact on your driving, so try to get a full eight hours of sleep the night before your test.
  5. Don’t post about it. While it can be tempting to let everyone know that you’re taking your driving test, posting about it beforehand can add pressure. Instead, keep it on the down-low until you pass your test.
