How do you put a Tesla in neutral?

How am I supposed to put my Tesla into neutral? I just got a Model S, and the gear shift is really confusing. I can shift from drive to reverse, but I can’t find the neutral control anywhere.

Teslas are fun cars, but they can be confusing! To put your
Tesla
 Model S into neutral:
  • depress your brake, and
  • push the gear shift halfway between drive and reverse.
Your car won’t shift to neutral if you don’t press the brake pedal all the way down. Make sure you have the pedal fully depressed before you switch gears.
You may also notice that the parking function is a button on the end of your gear shift. But your Model S will also shift into park if it senses a shift in the driver’s weight. Be careful not to shift too much in the driver’s seat, or the car may switch to park.
