How do you pull a car over to the curb?

What can I do to pull over my car without hitting the curb? Every time I pull over I either hit the curb or end up way too far away. What can I do to fix this?

Parking can be tricky, and plenty of people have difficulty pulling to the curb—so try not to worry! If you need to pull your car over, try to use stationary objects around you to gauge the distance to the curb.
Here are some examples of good reference points:
  • other cars on the curb
  • signs on the curb
  • trees on the sidewalk
As you pull over, use your side mirror to estimate your distance from the curb. If you pulled in at an angle:
  • adjust your position by putting your car in reverse,
  • turning your wheel towards the curb, and
  • slowly backing up.
From there, you can pull forward as needed!
