How do you program a GMC garage door opener?

I just bought a new GMC Sierra, and it comes with a garage opener function. My husband and I are constantly losing our garage remote, so I am excited about this feature. Unfortunately, I did not ask the dealer how to use it, and now I don’t know what to do. How do you program a GMC garage door opener?

Keeping track of a shared garage door opener can be a special kind of nightmare. I’m glad your new
GMC
has an easy solution!
To program a GMC garage door opener on your HomeLink system, you need to have your handheld garage remote handy.
The HomeLink system in your GMC is located right above your
rearview mirror
. To sync the system up with your garage door here is all you need to do:
  • Your HomeLink system has three buttons that you can program to sync with your garage or other remote home functions. Choose the button you want to program (1, 2, or 3) and hold it down until the red indicator light blinks slowly.
  • Once the light is blinking, grab your garage remote and hold it a few inches away from the HomeLink system. Press the opener button and hold it down until the red light is solid and no longer blinking.
  • When the light stops blinking, you are programmed! Test it out by pushing the button you just programmed to see your garage door open.
And now that you can get your new car into the garage, let’s talk about your car insurance. Odds are, when you bought your car you just added it to your current policy without much thought. That is what most people do. But what if there are big savings out there for the same coverage?
