How do you program a garage door opener for a GMC Sierra?

We had our first snowfall of the season yesterday and I’d like to start parking in my garage to avoid having to sweep my car off everyday. If it's possible, I’d also like to avoid exiting my vehicle to open my garage door. Can I program my garage door to open from my GMC Sierra?

Having a programmed garage door opener in your vehicle can save you time and help you avoid the blistering cold winter weather. To learn how to program a GMC Sierra garage door opener, follow these steps:
  • Locate the Homelink system on your rearview mirror
  • Push the number “1” on your Homelink system and wait for a red light to flash
  • Once the light begins flashing, you can program your vehicle
  • Hold your garage door opener 3-4 inches from the Homelink system
  • Push and hold down the button on your door opener until the red light stops flashing
And there you have it! Pretty easy, right? To test out the connection, close your garage door and press the number “1” button inside the vehicle. If you programmed it correctly, your door should open!
