How do you program a 2019 Jeep Cherokee garage door opener?
My daughter just moved back in with me. I’d like to program her HomeLink system in her Jeep so that it opens my garage door. How do you program a 2019 Jeep Cherokee garage door opener?
garage door opener is fairly straightforward and logical.
First, find out whether you have a newer (rolling code) automatic garage door opener with a “Learn” or “Train” button. Look for a button that reads either “Learn” or “Train” on the garage door opener’s motor. You have an older opener if you don’t find this kind of button.
Now, find the HomeLink buttons in your daughter’s Cherokee. Look on the driver’s side sun visor or look for a center overhead console. You’ll see three buttons in a row, with 1-3 lines on them.
If you have an older garage door opener:
Park her Cherokee just outside your garage.
To clear the memory in her Cherokee’s HomeLink, press down on the 1st and 3rd buttons (do not press the center button). Do this for up to 20 seconds. You should see the indicator light on the HomeLink console flashing rapidly at this point.
Without starting the engine, put the Cherokee in the on/run position.
Take the handheld opener and place it 1-3 inches away from the HomeLink console. Simultaneously hold the button on your handheld unit and hold down one of the buttons on the HomeLink console.
The amber indicator light on the HomeLink console will begin to flash. You can release both buttons, once the light is flashing quickly.
If you have a **newer garage door opener with a “Learn” or “Train” button, do everything listed above, but then you’ll need to:
Exit the Jeep and go into the garage. Firmly push and then release the “Learn” or “Train” button. At this point, you have 30 seconds to complete the next step. |
Go back to the Cherokee and press the HomeLink button you want to program twice. Each time you press it, hold the button for 2 seconds. )
Now, see whether the HomeLink button opens/closes the garage door. If it doesn’t work, try pushing the button a third time.
Programming a Jeep’s HomeLink system to sync with your garage door opener takes several steps. But after you’ve figured out the process, it seems simple. Shopping for
