How do you program a 2003 Honda Civic remote?

What do I need to do to program my 2003 Honda Civic remote? I’m not sure how to make it work, but it would be really convenient if it did! I usually have to carry my son out to the car, so it’s hard to unlock the door with him in my arms.

It can be really hard to unlock your doors when your hands are full! Luckily, it’s pretty easy to program a 2003
Honda Civic
remote. Here’s how to do it:
  1. Keep your doors unlocked and turn your ignition to the ON or II position.
  2. Press either the LOCK or UNLOCK button on the remote that you’d like to program.
  3. Turn the ignition to the ACCESSORY position (I) or the LOCK position (0), then turn it back to ON.
  4. Repeat steps two and three two more times.
  5. After you’ve pressed the LOCK or UNLOCK button on the remote the third time, your doors should lock or unlock with the remote command.
  6. To test the remote, press the LOCK button to ensure the doors lock.
  7. To exit programming mode, turn your ignition back to the LOCK or 0 position.
