I've noticed that the rubber seals around my car doors are starting to deteriorate. What can I do to keep them in pristine condition?

The rubber seals prevent noise and moisture from entering the interior of the car. However, weather can wreak havoc on them. Whether it’s because of freezing
car doors
or heat from the sun, the seals can become hard and brittle.
To preserve the rubber seals around the edge of your door, follow these steps:
  • Spray an all-purpose cleaner on the rubber seals
  • Use a paintbrush or detailing brush to remove dirt from the rubber
  • Wipe clean
  • Get a bottle of rubber conditioner/protectant
  • Put this on the door seals and let dry
Doing these steps should remove the dirt and grime that can cause the rubber to deteriorate while the protectant adds another layer of protection.
While your insurance likely won’t cover damage to your rubber seals, it will cover you in case something hits your door or if you’re in an accident—but only if you have the right coverage. That’s when the
