How do you open the hood on a Honda CR-V?

I’m experiencing difficulty shifting gears when I drive. My brother says I should check my transmission fluid and possibly add more. To check on the transmission fluid, I need to open the hood. How do you open the hood on a Honda?

Your brother is correct! Having trouble shifting gears is one symptom that your vehicle is low on transmission fluid.
Here’s how to
open the hood
on a Honda CR-V to check your transmission fluid:
  1. Unlock your vehicle and open the driver’s door.
  2. Near the left side of the driver’s-side floorboard, locate the hood release lever on the kick panel.
  3. Pull back on the lever to pop open the hood.
  4. Walk to the front-center of the vehicle. Slide your hand between the hood and grille.
  5. Use your fingertips to feel for a hood release latch underneath the hood. Once you locate it, push upwards to open the hood.
  6. Lift the hood.
  7. On one side of the vehicle is a prop rod secured by a clip. Locate the prop rod and take it out of the clip.
  8. On the same side as the prop rod underneath the hood is a hole for the prop rod. Insert the end of the prop rod into the hole to secure the hood while it’s open.
You should be all set to change your headlight!
