How do you open the gas tank on the 2016 Ford Fusion?
I usually open the gas tank door from the inside of my car, but I can’t seem to find the lever in my 2016 Ford Fusion rental car! Can you tell me where it is?

The 2016
Ford Fusion
doesn’t have a gas tank door lever, meaning you won’t be able to open it from the inside. Here’s how you do it instead:- Unlock the Ford Fusion.
- Press the right edge of the gas tank door to release it.
- Fill your tank after unscrewing the gas cap.
- Screw the cap back on and close the door by pressing the same right edge.
If the gas tank door is difficult to open or doesn’t open at all, some common reasons are:
- The hinge isn’t well lubricated.
- The fuel door is bent.
- There is a problem with the internal spring.
- The hinge is corroded or rusted.
Forcing the gas door open can risk damaging the car and result in penalties from your rental company. We recommend contacting them as soon as possible to get the issue resolved and you back on the road!
