How do you open the gas tank on the 2015 Ford Fusion?

I recently purchased a 2015 Ford Fusion, and it just occurred to me that it doesn’t have a gas tank lever. How do I open my gas tank?

Thanks for your question! The Ford Fusion can be quite a mystery if you aren’t familiar with it.
Unfortunately, the 2015
Ford Fusion
 does not have a gas tank door lever, so you won’t be able to open it while sitting in the car. Instead, here’s how you can open the gas tank:
  • Ensure that your Ford Fusion is unlocked.
  • Locate your gas tank door.
  • Press down on the right edge of the door, and it should open.
  • Unscrew the gas cap to fill up your tank!
However, if you press the gas tank door and it still won’t open, refer to your owner’s manual or contact the Ford dealership for troubleshooting. Some common reasons why the gas tank door won’t open include:
  • A lack of lubrication on the hinge
  • A bent fuel door
  • A problem with the internal spring
  • A corroded or rusted hinge
