How do you open the gas tank on a Dodge Ram 1500?
At work, I have to drive the company truck. Usually, my partner refills the fuel tank, but now I’m working solo and need to do it myself. How do I open the gas tank on a Dodge Ram 1500?

Getting the gas tank open on the
Dodge Ram 1500
is pretty easy once you figure out which kind of fuel tank door you have. It varies by model year, so there are a few different approaches to try.Start with these tips:
- Look at the fuel tank door. If you see a lip or ridge, you just need to pull the door open and unscrew the gas cap.
- If the fuel tank door has no lip, you’ll need to press down on its outer surface. On some models, you’ll press on the center part of the fuel tank door’s rear edge. On others, you’ll press the bottom right corner. When you’ve applied pressure, the gas tank door should spring open.
Once you’ve gained access to the fuel tank, you’ll need to check if your fuel tank has a gas cap since models vary. If there’s no gas cap to unscrew, you can simply insert the fuel pump and the inner flapper doors will pop open.
Before you fill up the tank, double-check the owner’s manual to ensure you
choose the best gasoline or fuel
