How do you open the gas tank on a Chrysler 300 2017?

I just bought a gently used 2017 Chrysler 300 for a sweet deal, but I’m about to need to get gas and can’t figure out how to open the tank. You just pressed the door for my mom’s old 300 model, but that’s not working for this one. Any ideas?

You’re right—older versions of the 300 just required a simple push of the fuel door. But to open the gas tank on a Chrysler 300 2017 model, you’ll need to** press the gas tank cap release button located on the driver’s side door**. It’s near the edge of the door right above the “map pocket” of the door. This method applies to all models after 2010.
The 2017 Chrysler 300’s fuel tank will hold 18.5 gallons of gas, and you’ll have a maximum fuel range of either 500 miles or 555 miles, depending on whether your car is rear-wheel or all-wheel drive. Rear-wheel drive 300s get an EPA-estimated 23 combined mpg (19 city mpg/30 highway mpg) while the all-wheel drive models drop that to 21 combined mpg (18 city mpg/27 highway mpg).
To make sure your 300’s fuel economy stays in top shape, you’ll want to implement a few driving habits to optimize your fuel consumption:
  • Keep up with your Chrysler’s
    regular maintenance
  • Avoid letting your engine idle.
  • Drive gently, avoiding any quick acceleration or abrupt braking.
