I’m currently driving a rental BMW X5 while my car is in the shop for repairs, but I can’t figure out how to get the gas tank open. Any idea how to open the gas tank on a BMW X5?

Step one: walk to the rear end of the passenger’s side of the car, where you’ll find a rectangular cut-out in the X5’s body. This is the fuel door.
Step two: Gently press the far side of the fuel door as if it were a button. This will trigger the fuel door to open.
Step three: Unscrew the gas cap underneath the fuel door to access the gas tank. Now you can fuel up as per usual!
