How do you open the gas tank on a 2020 Subaru Outback?
I bought a 2020 Subaru Outback yesterday and am planning on going to the gas station to fill up the tank today, but the fuel fill door wouldn’t open when I tried it—how do you open the gas tank on a 2020 Subaru Outback?

You can open the gas tank on a Subaru Outback 2020 in several different ways, but they all require that the vehicle be unlocked first—this can be done in a few ways:
- Turning the ignition to “ACC” or “LOCK/OFF” setting
- Pressing the unlock button on your key fob
- Pressing the unlock side of the power door locking switch
When the doors are unlocked, press the right bottom edge of the fuel fill door. It will automatically pop open, at which point you can open it the rest of the way and unscrew the gas cap.
At this point you are ready to refuel your 2020 Subaru Outback.
