I bought a Jeep Cherokee from my cousin, but I don’t know much about it. I’m trying to figure out how to open the fuel door before I head to the gas station. How do I open the gas tank on a 2019 Jeep Cherokee?

Getting to know a new car is important! To open the gas tank door on a 2019 Jeep Cherokee, press the button featuring a gas pump icon on the dash.

The gas tank door on your Jeep Cherokee should pop right open! But if this button fails to open the fuel door, there’s an override in the back cargo area on the left-hand side. You can refer to your Jeep Cherokee’s owner’s manual or the Jeep website for exact details.

If your gas tank door still doesn’t release, you’ll have to take your new-to-you Jeep in for a check-up!

Once you successfully fill your tank, don’t forget to close the fuel door when you’re done! The door should lock automatically once you push it closed.
