How do you open the gas tank on a 2018 Ford Escape?

I just upgraded from a 2015 Ford Escape to a 2018 model, but I’m having trouble adjusting. Specifically, I can’t figure out where the lever is inside the car to open the gas tank! How do you open the tank on a 2018 Escape?

To open the gas tank on a 2018 Ford Escape, you must press down on the fuel-filler door. Applying a light amount of pressure to the fuel-filler door should be enough to spring it open—but if that doesn’t work, you can always insert your finger into the notch on the right-hand side of the fuel-filler door to pull it open manually.
Unlike earlier versions of the Escape—which required pulling an interior lever to pop open the fuel-filler door—newer models, including the 2018 Escape, have been redesigned for easier refueling. A spring-loaded fuel-filler door allows drivers to conveniently open and close the gas tank before and after fueling without the added work of uncovering an interior latch.
On top of simpler refueling, the 2018 Escape sports a 15.7-gallon gas tank, which is above average for its class and can carry this powerful compact crossover SUV as far as 23 city/30 highway miles per gallon!
