How do you open the gas tank on a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
I’ve never had a car of my own before, and I just got a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I’m a little embarrassed—I don’t know how to refuel it! How do you open the gas tank?

Congrats on your first car! Don’t worry; owning and maintaining a vehicle takes some getting used to.
- Push the fuel door release switch (under the headlamp switch to the left of the steering wheel).
- Exit the vehicle and pull open the fuel filler door.
- Insert the gas nozzle to refuel your Jeep (there’s no gas cap to unscrew).
- Remove the nozzle, hang it up, and push the fuel filler door shut.
That’s it! Here’s a tip if you live in a cold environment—sometimes ice can prevent the fuel door from opening. If this happens, gently push on the fuel door to break the ice. Then, press the fuel filler door release switch inside your Jeep again. This should open the fuel door, so you don’t have to pry it open.
