How do you open the gas tank on a 2008 BMW 328i?

I just got a used 2008 BMW 328i and I’m already running low on gas, but I can’t find the release lever. This will be my first time fueling up and I don’t know what to do. How do you open the gas tank on a 2008 BMW 328i?

You can’t find the fuel release lever inside your car because your 2008
BMW 328i
doesn’t have one! Instead, follow these steps to open the gas tank on your 328i:
  • Park your vehicle and turn off the engine
  • Exit your vehicle to locate the fuel door
  • Press on the fuel door
So long as your vehicle is unlocked, your fuel door should pop open after completing these steps. When your car is locked, the fuel door will not open. This clever safety feature prevents anyone from tampering with your gas tank or stealing gasoline. The same goes for all other
BMW
models too!
Once you’ve successfully opened your gas tank, you’ll be ready for your first refuel! Just make sure to
choose the best gasoline
for your vehicle. The BMW 328I takes premium gasoline with a 97 or higher octane rating. Actually, the 328I is one of the only models in the BMW lineup that requires premium gasoline instead of recommending it.
Premium gas usually contains additives for higher-performance engines that aren’t in regular gasoline. Putting the wrong type of gasoline in your BMW 328I could cause decreased fuel efficiency and engine damage. Avoid the risk altogether and check your owner’s manual for the correct gasoline type.
