How do you open the gas tank on a 2007 Ford Escape?

How do you open the gas tank on a 2007 Ford Escape? I just bought this car used, and I can’t find a fuel door release button like I had on my old car.

Congrats on the new set of wheels! The reason you can’t find a fuel door release button on your 2007
Ford Escape
is probably because it doesn’t actually have one.
Ford
has slightly altered how you open its fuel filler doors over the years. To open the gas tank on a 2007 Ford Escape, all you should have to do is simply pull the fuel door open by its raised outer edge. Then, you can simply unscrew the fuel filler gap and start refueling your gas tank.
Fuel filler door release buttons were added to the Ford Escape, but not until later model years. Then, with 2020 and later models, the button was phased out again—on these doors, you’d just press in on the door to cause it to pop open.
If for some reason you can’t get your fuel door to open with any of these methods, it’s possible it could be stuck shut. In that case, you might want to enlist some help from a Ford dealership or auto shop to avoid potentially damaging the door.
Having a full gas tank can bring you added peace of mind—and so can having the right
car insurance
policy for your 2007 Ford Escape, so make sure you set yourself up with both!
