What steps should I take to open the coolant cap on my Ford Focus? I need to refill the coolant, but I’m not totally sure how to access it.

Replacing your coolant is an essential step in any car maintenance schedule. Luckily, it’s not that hard to do! To open the coolant cap in your Ford Focus, make sure that your engine has cooled completely.
If your engine is too hot, the coolant could be boiling. Plus, the heat can increase the pressure—making it much harder to remove the cap. Once it gets cool as possible, the coolant cap will be easier to open.
Once your engine is cool, follow these steps to open the coolant cap:
  • Open the hood
    of your car.
  • Locate the coolant cap.
  • Press it down while turning it counterclockwise.
  • Your cap should open!
From there, you can fill up the coolant, replace the cap, and move on to your next car maintenance task!
