How do you open a Jeep Wrangler hood?

I’m trying to get under the hood of my Jeep for the first time, but I’m having trouble getting the hood open. How do you open a Jeep Wrangler hood?

Jeeps aren’t like other passenger vehicles—their hoods have three latches to release instead of one or two. Here is how you can open the hood on your
Jeep Wrangler
:
  • Release both of the hood latches on the outer edges of the hood
  • Raise the hood and reach underneath the middle to find the safety latch
  • Shift the safety latch to the left and open the hood
You may need to slightly push downward on the hood before you can push the safety latch. Once you have the hood opened, prop it up with the support rod.
