How do you negotiate a car’s price via email?
I'm trying to avoid going to a dealership in person, but I found a Honda CR-V online that I'd like to buy from a local Honda dealer. Can I negotiate the car’s price by email?

“Shaking hands with a sales manager is no longer a car-buying requirement! Shopping for vehicles online is becoming increasingly common.
That said, negotiating a car price via email is definitely different than doing it face to face—but it is entirely possible. You’ll just need to have a number in mind and reach out to the dealership’s sales team.
First, you should determine your budget. How much can you afford to put toward a car payment every month? Try not to stretch yourself too thin to avoid money issues down the line.
Then, contact the sales team at the dealership where you found the CR-V. Make sure you know how much the vehicle is going for at competing dealerships and use that to counter the price at your selected location.
The job of a sales manager is to—you guessed it—make a sale! So don’t feel like you’re asking for too much by trying to get a better price. After all, it’s your wallet that’s going to take the hit!
Save your email chain so you can look back at the negotiations later and point to the agreed-upon price if there’s a discrepancy once you head down to pick up the vehicle.
