How do you modify a car for a little person?
My fiance was born with dwarfism. As a wedding present, I really want to buy her a new car. I don’t have much experience with how cars should be modified for her. I don’t want to ask her the specifics because I don’t want to ruin the surprise of the gift. How do you modify a car for a little person?

A car is an incredibly thoughtful gift for your fiance, and I’m sure she’ll be extremely happy with it!
The most common modification you can have installed in your fiance’s car is a set of pedal extensions for the gas and brake pedals. This will allow your fiance to reach the pedals and make adjustments as needed.
You should also purchase or make a block for her to rest her feet on so she can use the pedals more comfortably. Many people make these out of wood or repurpose other boxes or blocks to rest their feet on while they drive.
Another very simple way to modify your fiance’s car is to purchase a thick seat cushion or cover for her to sit on to make it easier for her to see over the steering wheel. And you may want to discuss with her turning off the car’s airbag, as it is quite common for little people to be badly injured by airbags regardless of the severity of the accident.
