How do you lower car insurance for a teenager?

My daughter is 17 and she's on our policy. When we added her, our rates skyrocketed. Is there anyway to lower car insurance when adding teenagers to your policy?

Every parent dreads the day they have to add their teenager to their
car insurance
because of the likelihood of a rate increase!
Since teen drivers are inexperienced and at higher risk for claim submissions, insurance companies tend to rate any policy higher. However, you can help reduce your car insurance when adding a teenager with a few tips.
First, have them take a driver training or defensive driver course. Most insurance companies will offer a discount on policies if a driver has completed a course.
State Farm
offers a program called Steer Clear, which applies a discount after a driver under the age of 25 completes it.
Another option is a good student discount. If your daughter has a B average or higher, she may qualify for a discount.
Finally, one of the easiest ways to lower your car insurance with a teenager is shopping around. Rate for teenagers are never cheap, but finding
more affordable ones
is possible.
That’s when
Jerry
can help. Jerry is your one-stop insurance broker that finds you the best rates for the coverage you require, even with a teenager added to your policy.
You should also take comfort in knowing your rates will eventually decrease. If your daughter maintains a clean driving record and gains more experience, your rate will continually lower.
