How do you keep cats calm on long car rides?

I’m moving across the country and I’ve got two cats. They’re generally fine for short rides, but we’ll be in the car for 16 hours on this trip. I don’t want to stress them out. What can I do to help keep my cats calm in the car?

Wow, that sounds like quite an adventure—I hope it goes well!
To keep cats calm on long car rides, it’s best to use a crate they’re familiar with. Make sure to properly secure the crate(s) in the car. Throw in a blanket or small toy—something with a familiar scent—if possible.
You could also buy a calming pheromone spray called Feliway and spray it on the crate(s) ahead of time.
In addition, you can talk to your vet. They may be able to prescribe some sort of anxiety medication that will help.
Lastly, create a serene environment inside the car. Play calming music and keep the temperature comfortable.
To ensure your drive goes smoothly, consider getting a roadside assistance membership through
