How do you jump start a BMW 528i?
What steps do I need to take to jump start a BMW 528i? My battery’s getting pretty old, and I’m worried it might die soon. I’d like to be prepared to jump start it when it does!

Knowing how to jump start your car is an essential skill—so great job taking steps to learn! Here’s how to jump start your BMW 528i:
- First, find a working car or a car battery to jump start your dead car.
- Connect the red positive cable to your BMW’s positive battery terminal.
- Connect the other red positive cable to the working car’s positive battery terminal.
- Next, connect the black negative cable to the working car’s negative battery terminal.
- Connect the other end of the negative cable to an unpainted metal part on your BMW’s engine block.
- Start the working car and keep it running for about five minutes.
- Try to start your BMW. If this doesn’t work, wait for another five minutes and try again.
- Once your car starts, leave it running for 10 seconds before turning it off and disconnecting the cables in the reverse order.
- Drive your BMW for30 minutes to help it charge.
Remember, a battery you need to jump is probably in bad shape. Bring your car to an auto shop as soon as possible to replace your battery.
