How do you insure a learner driver on their own car?

My daughter just got her learner's permit. She has her own car, so we'd like her to get her own insurance. Can she be on her own policy?

As exciting as a permit is for a young driver, finding a car insurance company who will issue a policy to a driver with a learner’s permit is difficult.
Drivers with a learner’s permit are required to drive with a licensed driver, so most insurance companies won’t insure them alone, especially due to the high risk they carry.
Even if you can find a company that will insure her, the price will likely be very high. Although your daughter has her own car, adding her to your current policy until she gets her full license is the better move.
