How do you install crossbars on a Honda Pilot?
What’s the best way to install crossbars on my Honda Pilot? My family and I are going on a big road trip, and we’d like to strap some of our luggage to the roof.

Honda Pilots are well equipped for long trips, with pre-installed spaces for crossbars and a roof weight capacity of 165 pounds!
Follow these steps to install crossbars on your Honda Pilot:
- First, find a step stool or ladder so you can easily access the roof of your car.
- Notice the four slots on the inside of the rails—two on each side.
- Use a screwdriver to remove the screws from each slot.
- Line your crossbars with the empty slots.
- Bolt the indicated tabs on your crossbars to the slots on rails, using the threads where the screws used to be.
- Once you’ve bolted in every side, give your crossbars a little shake to make sure they’re secure.
Hopefully, these instructions will help you properly install your crossbars! While you can always get aftermarket crossbars, your easiest option will likely be buying Honda-brand crossbars directly from your dealer. They’re built to fit your car, and you won’t need to worry about any safety issues.
