How do you install a light bar?

I live in a rural area and sometimes I wish I had more light while driving at night, especially on roads where deer and other animals might jump in front of my truck. Can I install a light bar on my truck myself? How do you install one?

You can install a light bar on your own! Just follow these steps:
  • Disconnect your vehicle’s battery
  • Mount the light bar on your vehicle using the equipment that came with your light bar kit
  • Detach the switch wire segment from the main wiring harness and attach it where you’d like on your dashboard
  • Position the relay and cables close to your vehicle’s battery and connect the cables. Tuck the extra wire length neatly in your engine compartment away from high heat areas
  • Hook up the connecting wires to your light bar
And you’re all set! Keep in mind that most states only allow light bars for off-roading purposes and they’re illegal to use on highways. Check your local and state laws before installing a light bar.
