“Sorry to hear about the flooding! The silver lining is that filing a claim is quick and easy.
To submit a claim with your
car insurance company
for flood damage, you need to have
comprehensive insurance
to cover flood damage.
Comprehensive insurance covers damage to your vehicle if it occurs from a covered peril. Covered perils include:
  • Fire
  • Theft
  • Hail
  • Water or flood
  • Vandalism
  • Windstorm
If you have comprehensive insurance and want to submit a claim to your insurance, you can call them. They will likely have an adjuster review the damage. Your insurance may also request an estimate from repair shops. From there, your insurance will decide how they would like to proceed.
Your vehicle will either be repaired or it may marked a total loss. If so, you’d receive the actual cash value for your vehicle.
If you didn’t have comprehensive coverage, now is the time to add it to your policy. Download the
