How do you get car oil out of jeans?

I’m in my first week working at a car maintenance shop. I love it, but my jeans keep getting oil on them. Is there a trick for getting the oil out?

Ah yes, the one major downfall of working at
a repair shop
is the mess! If you follow these steps, your pants should be good to go:
  • Lay your clothing flat
  • Place an old towel or cardboard under the stained area
  • Take some dish detergent and apply it to the oil stain
  • Rub the detergent with a soft cloth gently to saturate the stain
  • Add baking soda to the stain and let sit until hardened
  • Rinse
  • Wash your jeans as you normally would
  • Let them air dry
If that doesn’t work, and you’ve tried it a few rounds, you may have to resort to work specific clothes. While not ideal, you at least won’t have to worry about constant stain removal!
