How do you get a hardship license in Oklahoma?

My license got suspended because I refused a breathalyzer test. This really put me in a bind since I can’t get to my job without driving! How do I get a hardship license if I’m in Oklahoma?

You can get a hardship license in
Oklahoma
(a modified driver’s license) for implied consent revocations, which seems to be your case. This modification would be issued by the Department of Public Safety (DPS).
To apply for a modified
Oklahoma driver's license
, you will need to consult with a driver compliance hearing officer to proceed.
Below are some requirements you will need to meet to be eligible:
  • Request for modification must be for driving a Class D motor vehicle.
  • An ignition interlock device approved by the Board of Tests for Alcohol and Drug Influence must be installed at your own expense.
  • The device must be installed on all vehicles you will be driving, including employer vehicles.
  • You must pay a statutory modification fee of $175.
  • You must pay $25 for a replacement plastic license with Modified printed on it.
Keep in mind: If your driving record is a concern for public safety, DPS may further limit your driving times, locations, purposes for driving, and more. You will not be eligible for a modification if your suspension involved causing bodily harm or death or violating an existing modification.
