How do you get a hardship license in Mississippi?

My license was recently suspended after a DUI, but I really need to drive to work since no public transit reaches my place! Is there any way to get a hardship license in Mississippi?

Sorry to hear of your
Mississippi driver's license
suspension!
You can get a hardship license in
Mississippi
if you need to drive to work while your license is suspended. However, you will still be required to serve a 30-day suspension before you are eligible to apply.
Below are the steps you need to follow to obtain a hardship license after 30 days:
  • Attend the Mississippi Alcohol Safety Education Program (MASEP)
  • Wait for your suspension letter from the Mississippi Department of Public Safety
  • Obtain a copy of your motor vehicle report to attach to your petition for the hardship license
  • Obtain documentation as proof of hardship from your employer
  • Obtain an
    SR-22 form
as proof of insurance—your insurance must meet the minimum requirements
    mandated by Mississippi regulations
  • File a petition for your hardship license with all the necessary documentation
  • Pay any outstanding fees and fines
Once your petition has been filed, you will also need to have an ignition interlock installed by an authorized ignition interlock provider. You will be required to bring your vehicle in for monitoring every 30 days to stay in compliance after you receive your limited license.
